CNPA

Dear participants,

When packing for Poiana Brasov, please do not forget some warm clothes and raincoats, as well as warm boots for everyday ware. Unfortunately, what used to be a nice warm weather a few days ago, turned into very cold (5 to 10 degrees Celsius) and rainy days and it seams it will stay like this all next week. We do pray for a change...

All the best!

Invitation to the First CNPA Conference

23rd - 24th September 2008

The CNPA Steering Committee and the Interim Secretariat of the Carpathian Convention as well as WWF Danube Carpathian Programme and Alpine Network of Protected Areas (ALPARC) are pleased to invite you to the first CNPA Conference to be held in Poiana Brasov - Brasov, Romania.

We hope that this conference will be the first one of a long line of events where protected areas specialists will meet in the future using the platform of the Carpathian Network of Protected Areas (CNPA).

Bear - M. Gunther 2006

The 2012 Protected Area for a living Planet Programme (PA4LP Project), funded by the MAVA Foundation and implemented for the Carpathian Mountains by WWF the Danube Carpathian Programme made it possible to organize this conference and support the participation of more than one hundred representatives of Carpathian Protected Areas.

Old house

The event is being organized in the heart of the Romanian Carpathians, 12 km away from Brasov city, in a glade surrounded by coniferous forests, at the foot of the Postavaru Massif, in Poiana Brasov. The area offers the best samples of Romania's rich biological diversity and its high cultural diversity. The Brasov area is a merging point for the Transylvanian Romanian traditions, Saxon landscapes and Hungarian heritage.

The CNPA Conference should become an important platform for networking for all professionals from the Carpathian Protected Areas. In the same time, this event will be used to promote the unique natural and cultural treasures of the Carpathians.

Further more, by inviting you to the European scale protected area conference, EUROPARC 2008 right after the CNPA Conference we hope to enrich the European conference with a significant presence of Carpathian protected areas and give you the opportunity to network with colleagues from all over Europe.
